Cynthia Carr is the owner and principal consultant for EPI Research Inc. with expertise in the fields of epidemiology, evaluation, research, community consultation and health policy. For almost twenty years, she has applied her skills to the identification and interpretation of health statistics and social indicators for health care planning and program evaluation. This has included facilitating the development of protocols and applications for the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data for program planning, community health assessments and evaluation purposes. She has extensive experience in planning, conducting, synthesizing and writing more than twenty Community Health Assessments in the NWT, Nunavut, Alberta and Manitoba. This includes analyzing and synthesizing large scopes of information and presenting these in technical documents as well as developing community friendly summary documents and presentations. Cynthia also has significant experience in community consultations, including planning and facilitating focus groups, key informant interviews, surveys and community meetings. Cynthia is a very strong writer and skilled in knowledge exchange both through her writing as well as presentations and facilitation of meetings and focus groups. In the course of her work, she has consulted extensively with Aboriginal groups, hospital administrators, Regional Health Authorities, and community-based organizations. Cynthia started her career in the NWT and has continued with significant work with northern organizations, particularly northern Regional Health Authorities.
